Another week, another shambles. With a humbling 41-16 defeat to the Patriots, any hopes of a turnaround for the Broncos can be put to bed for this season.
New England Patriots 41 Denver Broncos 16
Ohhhh Sunday Night! The New England Patriots took control early of another Sunday Night Football matchup in Week 10 as they faced the Brock Osweiler led Broncos, who actually beat the Pats the last time the Brockstar was under centre (an overtime win in 2015). This time round, the Denver defence is only a shadow of what it once was and Brady continues to show why he is the frontrunner for the MVP race, despite what Eagles fans might have you think.
Finally, after weeks of hoping, the offence and defence played at a similar level. Unfortunately, it was the defence who changed their performance to match that of the offence.
As this site is called Gridiron AND Gravy, I think I’ll start with the Gravy this week and get to the rather less palatable Gridiron after.
With the dismantling of Halloween decorations and centrepieces complete, we had a surfeit of pumpkin to manage. Thankfully I am a huge fan of roast pumpkin.
So, with the Broncos and Eagles game about to kick off, I set the TV to record and sat down with my family to baked potatoes, roast pumpkin, mashed turnip, and roast chicken. Topped off with the previously mentioned gravy, it was the perfect start to a Sunday evening.
Unfortunately, it all went downhill from there.
Brocktober is Upon Us
Another week, another disappointing loss.
Once again the offence was anaemic and Trevor Siemian has suffered the consequences, he will be replaced by Brock Osweiler for next week’s game against the Eagles.
Perhaps the sky is falling after all
The Broncos defence is still legit, but the failures of the offence to move the ball or to score (any) points led to a 21–0 loss to the Chargers.
Once again the opening possessions showed us all we needed to know.
