Well, what a year it has been so far: from an amazing Super Bowl LIV in February, where the Chiefs finally brought the Lombardi Trophy back to Kansas for the first time in 50 years after seeing off a stellar San Francisco 49ers team, through the madness of the Covid-19 pandemic that spread through the world afterwards and the fired up Black Lives Matter movement which finally found a time to be heard because of it. Sports, it seemed though, may not be on the horizon for some time…
Hats off then to the NFL for bringing in protocols that (so far) have allowed football to continue in a safe manner and the sacrifices that all involved in each franchise make so that we, the fans, can continue to enjoy the game we love. I think we’ll agree that this season taking place as scheduled has been a huge help to us in finding some normality in a very, very turbulent and testing year.
But as we all know, it is not just the NFL who are making sacrifices right now and as such our usual meet-ups are realistically unlikely to happen. Current rules in Manchester forbid anyone from outside of a household meeting in an indoor environment and sadly these rules are likely to stay in place through until the spring.
So, instead, let’s stay safe and enjoy this season “together” in our own living rooms: we’ll be with you every step of the way on social media, keeping you updated with match facts, game updates and very occasional attempts at humour; as we said above: sofa, so good. (“B-bum”, and indeed, “Tsh”.)
We look forward to hearing from you on there and we sincerely wish the best to you and your loved ones in staying safe from this terrible virus.
Looking forward to a time when we can all meet-up together for our usual food, drinks and laughs in a safe manner soon!
